Buyer's Guide

Alligator is a tricky product. Just look at sites on the Internet. Try a Google search for "alligator belts." Or "crocodile belts." So much junk and hype.  How can you understand the vast array of product and prices?  It's easy.  Just shop with us and have confidence that you are acquiring the best products but not at the highest prices.

To begin with our owners travel to France and Italy to hand select each skin, at the world’s leading tannery. Over the last two and one half decades we have developed an intricate, elaborate hand manufacturing process. Under careful supervision and quality control we simply do not make mistakes…that ever make it to our customers. For this reason we stand behind our products almost indefinitely.  Not only do we use alligator and crocodile but also ostrich, sting ray and other exotic skins.  And just about any color you would want.

For our belts there are 56 separate steps, each done by hand. The result is the finest belt in the world, virtually impossible to wear out through normal use. But don't go swimming in the swamp with our belt just because alligators swim in theirs. Their skins have not been tanned so nicely.

This guide will help through the process of selecting your belt. Answer these questions:

  • Do you have a favorite buckle for which we can custom make a belt or multiple belts? All of our belts are fitted with snaps to allow changing buckles.
  • Do you want a simple buckle or a buckle set (buckle plus one or two fancy keepers*, with or without fancy tip)?
  • What color do you want?  Colors: basic colors are black, brown, & British tan (a.k.a. cognac)? However, we have every color in the rainbow and then some.
  • What finish do you want: Finishes: glazed, matte, or horn-back (the cut of skin with all the cool ridges)
  • Width: Anything from 3/8th to 3 inches. Normally 1" or 1 1/4".
  • Straight or Tapered: Determined by the buckle set chosen and each customer's individual taste. For example, we can put a 1" buckle set on a 1" straight belt or on a 1 ¼" tapered to 1".

Here’s a guide to help you pick out a wallet design. Each is made to the customer’s specification.

  • Which pocket do you intend to carry your wallet? What specific outside dimensions are required?
  • How many slots do you want for credit cards, pictures and the like?
  • Do you want an identification window?  Inside the wallet or outside? As a separate flap?
  • Do you want a slot for money or will you carry cash separately to achieve a slimmer wallet and not put all your eggs in one basket?  By the way, if you want to carry your bills separately we offer a wonderful magnetic alligator money clip. Want one from the same skin as your new wallet?
  • What color do you want?  Colors: basic colors are black, brown, & British tan (a.k.a. cognac)?   However, we have every color in the rainbow and then some.
  • What finish do you want:   Finishes: glazed, matte, or horn-back (the cut of skin with all the cool ridges).
